Established in 1998, by former South African Police Force officers, Patrick Freeman and Allan Dillon, and commercial fisherman Billy Bowens, to combat increasing crime in the Lakeside area of Cape Town. These three were given the name of “The Mountain Men” by the residents of Lakeside because of their observation duties and skills from the mountain over Lakeside.
These three street smarts, with their combined police experience in dealing with violent crime, narcotics, housebreaking and theft, made a tremendous difference in reducing crime levels in Lakeside.
They rode bicycles for three years, before purchasing their first vehicle. As the demand for a unique approach to fighting crime grew, so did their areas of operation.
Today the Mountain Men have their Cape Town based Urban Division and Operations, located on the Main Road in Muizenberg. Their Agri Division has its Duty Room in Bredasdorp.
With the daily threat of farm attacks, stock theft and other crimes being perpetrated on farms, Mountain Men Security Agri Division has made major advances into the Agri sector, ensuring that food security is maintained.
Commencing in 2016, in Bredarsdorp, they now have operational teams working in the Overberg, Boland and Cederberg areas.
Ongoing internal training of our teams is critical to their ability to take the fight to various types of criminal elements.
A unit formed in 2008, known as the Special Response Team (SRT), is still operational today, but is no longer referred to as SRT because various Cape Town based security companies and Neighbourhood Watch groups, began using the term SRT without have the resource nor capability of a bonafide SRT unit. We have subsequently distanced ourselves from these operators.
The use of technology, boots on the ground and unconventional crime fighting practices, makes us a serious threat to criminal elements.
Our bespoke security service offerings, enable us to adapt to any crime threat and obtain meaningful results.
High visibility is not necessarily a deterrent to criminals. If it were, we would have no crime and the high number of security companies, police vehicles, NHW patrollers, Metro police, law enforcement officers and traffic services, all active and visible, throughout South Africa attest to this fact.
We continue to evolve and with a strong team and loyal clients, we are able to make a difference in your area.
